Chicago, Ft Wayne and Eastern (Railamerica) - Locomotive Repair Building
Strebig Construction, Inc.
and our design team designed and built this 12,000 square foot NUCOR pre-engineered steel building
for the inspections and repairs to locomotives and rail cars. This facility was one of the first of their type for Chicago, Fort Wayne,
and Eastern Railroad. Before the building they worked yearlong outside. The building is 35’ tall to allow locomotive entry and exit and has two sets of tracks running through it with 20-foot tall roll-up doors to each end at each track system. There is a 66-foot long in-ground inspection pit for servicing the carriage of large locomotives. Also inside to assist with their repairs and inspections is an overhead crane system. In one corner is an office and break room.
Norfolk Southern
Strebig Construction, Inc. in conjunction with Norfolk Southern architects and our design team completed this NUCOR
Pre-Engineered Steel Building facility for the GWSE offices. This building also accommodates a open sided higher bay to service railroad cars. This project can be located on Nelson Road south of the railroad tracks.
AEP
Strebig Construction, Inc. in conjunction with AEP and our design team completed this Silver LEED design-build adaptive re-use facility for AEP’s Service Center located at 701 Dayton Street in Decatur, Indiana. This project consisted of a partial demo of the existing building to accommodate a Pre-Engineered NUCOR
Building addition, A Pre-Engineered NUCOR
Steel Building parking garage and a complete interior demolition and build-out for their service center office staff.

Project Details
Univertical Corp had a very unique set of requirements coupled with a IDEM Mitigation project. Strebig Construction, Inc. was awarded and has completed a very unique Design-build demolition/re-construction project for Univertical Corp. located at 203 Weatherhead Street in Angola, Indiana. The scope entailed selective demolition of 30,000 square feet of low bay 1950’s conventional post and beam construction and setting in its place a Nucor
pre-engineered structure with 28 foot eaves and 100 foot clear span frames maintaining the integrity of attached adjacent structures on all four sides. Check out our timelapse video of the Univertical demolition/construction.
